Upload one or more screenshots from a movie, TV series, anime, or drama and our AI will identify it within seconds.

To find out what show a screenshot is from, upload the frame to WhatMovieIsThis. The AI identifies the series from cast, sets, wardrobe and on-screen text, and attempts the season and episode where the frame is distinctive enough, then returns ratings, the cast, the trailer and streaming links. Free, no sign-up.

Series identification is harder than film

A long-running show reuses the same standing sets and the same faces across a hundred hours of television, so the frame that names the series often says nothing about which hour it came from. The model works the other direction: it fixes the series first from cast and set design, then looks for episode-specific signals — a guest actor, a costume change, a location shoot, a haircut, a prop that only exists after a particular plot event.

Season and episode, honestly scored

Where those signals exist you get a season and episode with a confidence score. Where they do not, the tool says so rather than inventing a number. A confident series name with an acknowledged unknown episode is more useful than a fabricated S03E07.

Anime, K-drama and reality formats

Coverage extends well past scripted English-language drama. Japanese anime, Korean and Chinese drama, telenovelas, panel shows, competition formats and documentary series are all supported, including subtitled content where the on-screen text is an additional clue rather than an obstacle.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out what show a screenshot is from?

+

Upload the screenshot here. The AI names the series from the cast, sets and on-screen detail, and attempts the season and episode where the frame allows.

Can it tell me the exact episode?

+

Sometimes. Episode-level identification needs a signal unique to that hour — a guest star, a specific location, a plot-dependent prop. When there is none, the tool reports the series and says the episode is uncertain.

Does it work for anime and K-dramas?

+

Yes. Animated and subtitled international series are fully supported, and on-screen text is used as an extra clue.

What about reality TV and competition shows?

+

Format shows are identified from set design, branding and on-screen graphics, which are usually highly distinctive.

Can I upload more than one frame?

+

Yes, up to ten. Frames from different moments in the same episode substantially improve episode-level accuracy.
